NER-G Hockey League 2nd XI: East Midlands 2

Buxton II 4, Ramgarhia II 0

BUXTON Hockey Club Seconds had a fine win in their second league match last Saturday, scoring four goals against Ramgarhia from Derby and goalie Dave Balderstone kept a clean sheet in his first match.

All three Meaton brothers played, with Sam on the right wing starting the movement for the first goal with a cross to Jonny Lomas on the goal-line, who passed to Sam Longden in the ‘D’ for a tap-in.

After half-time, the Bucks piled on the pressure with Sam Meaton again attacking down the right and causing problems for the away team.

Lomas assisted the next goal with a pass to Jon Sewell who scored from close range, and then Ben Meaton got the third when he pounced on a rebound from the Ramgarhia keeper following brother Sam’s shot.

Sewell got the last goal from seven yards out after a melee in the circle when the keeper came too far out.

Two yellow cards were issued for dissent, one to the visitors and one to S Meaton.
