BUXTON and District Athletic Club runner Rob White continued his great form when competing in the first ever Marple 5K Parkrun, held from Brabyns Park.
Out of 209 runners, White finished sixth in a time of 17 minutes and 38 seconds.
Other Buxton finishers were Mark Pursell (18th, 19:45), Pete Bailey (44th, 21:55) and Bev Golden (96th, 24:54).
* Buxton fielded two competitors in the recent Sheffield Half Marathon. In blistering heat, David Brindley and Phil Wainwright finished in times of 1:39:48 and 1:53:47 respectively. Former Buxton junior Chris Rushworth came home in one hour and 34 minutes.
* On the fells, the Vanessa Chappell 5.5-mile race, held out of the Moorside Hotel at Higher Disley, attracted over 200 runners. Buxton was represented by Mark Halsey, who finished in 55th place (48:06), followed by Pete Bailey (77th, 51:40), Dave Forshaw (147th, 61:01) and Simon Moorhouse (151st, 61:31).
Fell race enthusiasts Pete Bailey and Dave Forshaw also ran at the Peat Pits and Shining Woods Fell Race, finishing 21st and 35th respectively.
In the two-mile Shutlingsloe Fell Race, from a field of 60, Buxton junior Elliot Meylan was the third under-16 runner home in 34th place, three places in front of dad Roland (37th).
* The second event in the Junior Championships was held at Burbage School at the weekend. In his first ever race, Luke Farrent led the field home, while Jacob Buckley was the first under-13 boy home in second place overall.
Elliot Meylan was third overall and the second under-13 boy, while Will Tighe was the second under-11 boy with Ethan Oliver in third.
Heather Wilshaw had an impressive race to come home ahead of Emily Braddock, with Freya Davies in third. Amy Quince was the first over-13 girl.
In the under-eight race, Josh Tatton was a clear winner from the start, followed by Luke Guise. Lauren Wilshaw was second overall and the first girl, ahead of Tarrah Staden and Katie Iving.
