LATEST: Farlam beaten by top seed after thrilling Lakeside semi goes to the wire

Have your say

LORRAINE Farlam’s dream of becoming world champion is over for another year after she was beaten 2-1 by top seed Deta Hedman in a thrilling semi-final at the Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship.

Farlam, 36, from Buxton, was narrowly edged out in a final-leg decider at the Frimley Green showpiece on Thursday evening.

The opening ten legs of the semi-final went with the throw to leave the match evenly poised at one set all.

Hedman won her first leg against the throw to go 2-0 up in the deciding third set, and although Farlam hit back to level at two legs all she was unable to stop the top seed claiming a sudden death final leg.
