BUXTON’S Lorraine Farlam is to compete in the first ladies-only darts event.
Farlam will line-up among a field which also includes her daughter Josie Patterson and world number one Deta Hedman, at next month’s Ladies Classic.
The event is the brainchild of Julie Lambie, of the Ladies Darts Organisation, who campaigned for better television coverage of ladies matches at January’s Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship.
Julie said: “This is a brand new event aimed solely at lady darts players from all over the world. This is the first time a ladies stand-alone event of this kind has been organised.”
A prize fund of £2,240 will be up for grabs in the ladies singles competition, with a top prize of £1,000 awarded to the winner. A ladies pairs event will also be held.
The Ladies Classic will take place between 9am and 8pm on Saturday September 15, at Rileys, Crofton Road, Lincoln.
