Bradbury held a six-shot lead into the final round of the competition on March 26, hosted by Georgia State Women’s golf team, in very adverse weather conditions, but held off the international field to win by three shots.

Victory in American NCAA Division One championship golf is extremely rare for an English lady golfer.

The Cavendish Golf Club member, who plays off a scratch handicap, said: “I am absolutely thrilled and extremely proud to finally win my first collegiate event.”

Bradbury’s individual result also helped Old Dominion University finish in a strong team position.

She now turns her attention to The Pinehurst Challenge in North Carolina, where she will be aiming for her second win.

After graduation in May 2014, Bradbury will attempt to qualify for the Ladies European Tour, but in the meantime she returns to the UK for the summer to enter some English Open tournaments.
