Glossop judo star Eric Ham is set for an 11,000-mile round trip to South America this week.
Ham is off to compete in the Panama Continental Open, where he will take part in both the Cadet and Junior events.
Whilst there he will be looking to pick up valuable world ranking points, with one eye on the Junior European and World Championships which take place later this year.
Meanwhile, after a long four month qualification period Eric recently finished top of the British ranking table for this year’s European Cadet Championships.
This good form has been rewarded with news that he has been selected to represent Great Britain at this year’s Championships, due to be held in Greece next month.
Eric will compete in the under-66kg category at the event which is being staged in Athens over three days, July 4-6.
The Hadfield Fighter is currently ranked number one in GB for the junior (under-21) age band, despite still being just 16 years old.
His recent run of form has seen him selected to represent England at cadet events in Portugal, Romania and the Czech Republic.
