Buxton AC junior athlete Elliot Meylan continues his good form on the race front.

Elliot came home first in the Junior race at the ‘Leg it Round Lathkil’ fell race event, a full minute ahead of the second runner, third at Cheddleton, and seventh in the North Staffs Cross Country League at Stafford Common. This latter result moves him up to sixth place overall in the Under 11 Boys in the League.

Jacob Buckley, another Junior athlete, was fourth at Cheddleton and 13th in the Under 11 Boys at Stafford Common.

Other Junior runners at Stafford Common were: Under 13 Boys – Stephen Mellor (sixth), Daniel Burt (15th) and Kieran Connell (18th), placing them in third team position with one race to go.

On the Senior front, Buxton men turned out a full team at Stafford Common, with Rob White leading them home in 51st place, followed by Mark Pursell 133rd, Mark Halsey 137th, and Pete Bailey 197th.

This places the men’s team in ninth position in Division 2 of the League. Competing for the Senior Ladies were Kirsty Forder 57th and Wendy Bainbridge 78th.

At the ‘Leg it Round Lathkill’ seven mile fell race, Buxton AC had two runners in the top 10 from a field of 221 runners. Rick Houghton came home in a great fourth place and finished first Over 40, while Rob White was close behind, finishing in tenth place, with Junior Coach Wendy Higginbottom 46th overall (second lady). Pete Bailey was 85th, Mark Quince 119th, and Dave Forshaw 154th.
