FLASH’S Iain Robinson has regained the Staffordshire Moorlands Motorcycle Trial Championship he last held in 2010, at the final round of the series at Manor Farm in Quarnford.
Robinson won the last round in style by eight marks from Andy Hallam, with Nick Bull finishing in third. The result meant Robinson won the championship comfortably from Billy Craig and Hallam.
Competitors were faced with very testing conditions, with the recent rain making the course wet and slippery.
Sections two, seven and nine were the most testing, with Robinson coming out best on two and nine but Hallam the star on section seven, losing only one mark.
Torbjorn (Toby) Eyre was the best performer on the 50/50 route, losing only two marks.
Evergreen Pete Hallam, from New Mills, blasted his four-stroke Montesa (as used by the world champion) to second spot and a share of the championship with Andy Hipwell, from Buxton, who chose to ride his 175 Yamaha on the Clubman’s Route.
Danny Littlehales and Phil Hulme tied for third place, both losing 11 marks, but Littlehales was awarded the verdict on countback.
Pete Carson brought his special BSA Bantam home at the head of the field on the Clubman’s Route.
He was followed by a four-way tie for second place between Chris Beech, Nick Stott, Dorian Goddard and Hipwell.
Chris Beech eventually claimed second spot by virtue of the tie breaker and so winning the Clubman’s championship.
