Buxton seconds were the only side in action on a snow-laden weekend, as they recorded a 4-2 win away at Atherstone Adders.

In their first league match of the season, the seconds put in a fine display full of skill and determination on a frost-free astro at Atherstone.

They opened the scoring via S Wilkinson, who slapped in after good work from Betts and Collins on the flank.

That lead was soon doubled when Sewell swept home into the bottom left-hand corner.

The third goal was again scored by Sewell, who skilfully flicked the ball over the diving ‘keeper.

Atherstone then reduced the arrears via some short corners, some very questionable, to make it 3-2.

However, Buxton regained their dominance with a fourth goal when centre-forward Longden flicked in a perfectly-weighted lob following a rebound.
