Buxton put in a poor performance and were easily beaten 7-2 by Ashby.
Things started brightly for Buxton as they took the lead through Talbot following a good passing move.
However, Buxton allowed Ashby to get back into the game and never really got going after their good start.
The home side forced the Bucks into making mistakes in their own half which resulted in C Lunge bagging a brace and putting Ashby in the lead. Ashby captain P D’Ofyle then converted a penalty before Lunge struck before half time to get his hat trick.
Ashby went further ahead just after the interval before Talbot got his second, flicking into the top corner, to reduce the deficit. But Ashby punished Buxton further with two late goals to put the result beyond doubt.
The Bucks next face last season’s champions Coalville in what promises to be a tough match.

Buxton seconds earned an impressive 2-2 draw against a very strong Derby side.
With a few players missing, Buxton had a slow start to the game.
But they got into the grove and went ahead on eight minutes after an impressive finish from Longden.
Derby responded by pushing high up the pitch and were eventually rewarded with an equaliser when they converted a short-corner which was hit into the bottom corner. This proved to be their only goal from a penalty corner in 13 attempts.
The visitors continued this momentum as the half-time break approached, and five minutes before the interval a number of clever passes led to an excellent shot on goal which left M. Wilkinson helpless.
Derby continued to press after the break, but despite this Buxton held firm and managed to level the contest through Londgen’s alert finishing.
