Hitmen give it their all against Mildenhall

A DEPLETED Buxton Hitmen lost 52-36 to title favourites Mildenhall Fen Tigers in Sunday’s National Trophy clash at High Edge.

With Charles Wright unavailable and Luke Priest and Robert Branford injured, the Hitmen welcomed Stoke captain Tony Atkin as a guest rider.

In a close meeting, the lead changed hands several times until disaster for the Hitmen when a 5-1 to Mildenhall in heat 11 was followed by a 5-0 in heat 12, after team captain Dean Felton suffered bike problems and Ryan Blacklock slid off.

Atkin said afterwards: “You can’t knock the Hitmen this afternoon. They were depleted and they gave it their best shot.”

The Hitmen are away in the return leg of the Trophy meeting at Mildenhall on Sunday.
