Hitmen eye silverware

Buxton Hitmen return to speedway action this weekend for the National League Fours event, which is being held at Stoke’s Loomer Road stadium on Saturday.

Buxton’s top four riders - Adam Allott, Ben Taylor, Luke Priest and Robert Branford - will be taking part and, following an unlucky start to the season after last year’s successes, the team will be aiming to get back on track and bring home some more silverware.

Promoter Jayne Moss said: “We are really struggling to make an impression this year. We are already out of the Knockout Cup and the league hasn’t been looking great for us, which is a shame as we have a good team but the problem is they just don’t seem to all be scoring on the same day as one another.

“The lads don’t want to finish the season empty handed so a win at the fours would be great and give the team some confidence again to get them back on track. It’s going to be tough, especially as we have had a couple of weeks off from racing, but we will give it a good go.”

There is no home action for the Hitmen this week, however fans will be able to see the speedway stars of the future as Buxton hosts an under-16 meeting on Sunday (2pm start).
