The High Peak Indoor Bowling leagues will reach its climatic finale next weekend, with five squads in with a chance of taking the Friday league title.

Peaky Blinders have had a fabulous second half of the season, playing brilliantly as a team and would be favourites if there were more games to play.

In contrast All Stars have been very inconsistent and unpredictable, but both these sides have 25 points with two games left.

Thunder Rats have grown into the format with several quality players being added to last year’s squad.

In comparison Chapel Parkers lost a couple of experienced players and so brought in two family youngsters Josh Golpin, aged 6, and Phoebe Barber aged 10. Both these teams have 26 points with a similar high chalks difference.

The present leaders are the Plasterers, a real rag tag bunch of misfits who have somehow developed into a formidable team. They sit proudly on 28 points, but they do have to play Chapel Parkers last game, which could just be a title decider!

In the Saturday league, the title seems to be between leaders Vale and the free scoring Rovers. Again a difficult last match for the Vale could decide the eventual tile.

As the indoor season finishes the outdoor Crown Green season will begin, from late March through to October.

This is a game often associated with the older generation, but the Buxton area has many quality younger players both male and female.
