BUXTON Amateur Boxing Club fighter Andrejs Bukrejs secured a hard-fought victory in his second contest at 66kkg.

Bukrejs’ opponent, boxing out of Silverdale in Staffordshire, came forward and looked to push him back.

The Buxton boxer looked strong and dangerous, but at times backed himself into trouble. A two round tear-up ensued with the Silverdale boxer continuing forward, demonstrating tough resistance as Bukrejs hammered him with heavy left and rights.

The Staffordshire boxer was forced to hold excessively, giving the referee no option but to deduct points for the fouls, and in the end it was a clear victory for Bukrejs.
