BUXTON Hitmen are back in home action on Sunday against Hackney (start time 3pm).
And the Hi-Edge-based team will be looking to build on last weekend’s first home win of the season in the National League, against the Mildenhall Fen Tigers.
Last Sunday’s meeting against the Tigers was closely-fought from the off, with the Fen Tigers taking the lead with a 5-1 in heat one and then a 3-3 in heat two.
Heat three saw the Hitmen pairing of Adam Allott and Luke Priest take a 5-1 for the Buxton side to bring the scores level.
The teams traded 5-1 scores in the next two heats, with Priest and Allott levelling the score for the hosts.
A 3-3 in heat six and a 5-1 from Robert Branford and Ryan Blacklock in heat seven saw the Hitmen take the lead for the first time in the meeting, however this was short lived as again the Mildenhall side came back with a 5-1 in heat eight to level the scores.
After several re-starts, heat nine was a two-man race between Adam Allott and Jack Hargreaves, with the Hitman rider gating in his famously spectacular style to take the win.
A 4-2 by the Hitmen pairing of Ben Taylor and Dean Felton gave the hosts a 31-28 lead, but the Fen Tigers came back with a 4-2 of their own in heat 11.
The remaining four heats were all shared 3-3, as the Hitmen won 45-44 to collect two National League points.
