ROUND three of the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Championship took place on Bank Holiday Monday with the showery weather conditions giving competitors a difficult day to achieve optimum machine set-up.
Among the local riders competing was Buxton’s Phil Worthington, who was narrowly edged out of third place in the first race in the Peak Cup class, but held on to second place in race two in the Open Solo class.
Whaley Bridge’s Alex Gallemore took third place in each of the two races in the Pre-98 class, as well as overall victory in the second of the combined Steel Framed 600 and Pre-Injection races on his steel-framed machine.
In the Sound of Thunder races, Buxton’s Martyn Green secured the runner-up spot in the larger category behind the Mini Sound of Thunder finishers, but went even better in the second race to secure overall victory by just 0.33 seconds.
Round four of the championship takes place on Sunday June 24.
