DISLEY’S Sarah Storey has made it a hat-trick of gold medals at London 2012 with victory in the C5 Time Trial on the opening morning of the road cycling.

Storey completed the 16km course, featuring much of the famous Brands Hatch motor racing venue, in a time of 22:40.66 to finish over a minute ahead of her nearest rival, Poland’s Anna Harkowska.

“Having watched the success of the Olympic team on the road, Bradley (Wiggins) winning the Time Trial and Chris Froome getting the bronze medal, I just wanted to make sure I added my name to that list of success,” said 34-year-old Storey.

The win was her third of the Games, following victories in the C5 3k individual pursuit and C4/5 500 metres time-trial, and the tenth gold medal of her 20-year Paralympic career.

Storey now has the chance to equal Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson’s haul of 11 career golds with victory in Thursday’s Road Race.
