Buxton ABC’s junior boxer Giann Magno fought on a recent show in Swadlincote against a tough opponent from Stoke.
Magno and his opposite had met previously in a close encounter that Giann had won, but this was expected to be a close contest with a boxer who would come forward and pressure.
Magno started the bout on his toes, demonstrating excellent movement around the ring and catching his opponent out with speed and precision punching, before moving out at angles and avoiding the return shot.
Moving through the bout Magno continued to keep control, as his game opponent came looking to take the fight to the Buxton lad, who was too adept at scoring and moving out of danger.
This was a strong performance against very good opposition and Magno impressively picked up a unanimous victory.
Josh Chapman was also on the same bill and he too was matched against a Stoke boxer.
This was a real tussle with Chapman starting slowly against a tall and rangy southpaw.
As the bout progressed the Buxton boxer started to turn the tide, ripping into his opponent in the final round but he eventually lost out on a split decision.
