LOCAL riders were once again in action as Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Championship basked in glorious sunshine last weekend.

In the second race in the Peak Cup class, Buxton’s Phil Worthington claimed fifth place, as well as third in the second Open Solo race.

There is a new leader in the Pre 98s (up to 500c) category after another Buxton rider, Rob Garmory (pictured left), finished second and first in his class to overtake the championship leader and open up a four-point lead at the top.

In the combined Sound of Thunder and Lightweight races, Martyn Green finished fourth and sixth overall (second and third in his class) to take over the lead in the Sound of Thunder championship. High Peak’s Chris Moore easily won the Lightweight class in both races, taking an overall fifth place in each.

Round six of the championship is scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday August 27.
