Front runner

BUXTON resident Kath Lamplugh was the first lady home in the tough Chelmorton Chase fell race.

Kath, running for Staffordshire Moorlands, defeated an elite ladies field to put her name on the Joan Windross Memorial Shield, finishing in a time of 40:47.

Also in the women’s event, Alice Duncan ran in Cambridge University colours to take third, while Diana Lee for Matlock was second in 41:35.

Another local Liz Batt, herself a former winner of the Chelmorton Chase, claimed the veteran lady.

Carl Egdell, wearing Dark Peak colours, took the men’s first prize of £50 with a time of 34:37. First local from Taddington was Peter Stubbington in a Buxton AC vest.

Derby’s James Mellor took first prize in the under-16s race. Morgause Lomas was the first girl junior.
