BUXTON kickboxers will be going for gold at the World Championships in Spain.

Top fighters from the Buxton NWCKB Kickboxing Club fought their way to gold medals and qualified for places on the British team by competing against fighters from all over the country at the WKC British Championships in Manchester in March.

Now the Buxton fighters and British champions, instructor Rick Allsop, mother and daughter duo Sharon and Danielle Allsop, Kim Stafford, Sam Camp, Holly Rogers and Josh Downes, are jetting off to Kadiz in Spain next month to take on the rest of the world.

Because the World Championships have no funding, the fighters have to pay for their flights, accommodation and fight suits, and have received donations from Ferodo UK/Trades Link Construction, New Mills Cricket Club, New Mills Co-op, Tesco, local residents and students from the NWCKB clubs.
