DERBYSHIRE’S oldest golf club has celebrated its 125th anniversary.
Celebrations to mark the milestone at Buxton & High Peak Golf Club included a week of competitions for members and visitors, with over 500 competitors testing their skills against the course in some very testing conditions.
Steve Norton and his greenstaff battled valiantly to keep the course open and show its true splendour despite the adverse weather conditions.
The celebrations culminated in a gala ball at the Palace Hotel, attended by over 250 members and guests including High Peak Mayor Pat Jenner and the BBC’s Colin Sykes, who was the after-dinner speaker. There was also music by Purple Cloud of Funk and a disco.
