BUXTON Swimming Club volunteer teacher’s Trisha Longden and Karen Byrne have successfully passed the ASA level two teaching aquatics qualification.

Along with head coach Dave Peet and senior coach Mike Glossop, the club now has a strong team of volunteer teachers, delivering the national plan for teaching swimming where the emphasis is on children learning through fun.

A club spokesperson said: “We would like to offer a big well done to both volunteers who have put in a lot of their own free time over the last few weeks to achieve this in order to improve the quality of teaching at the club.”

The club is also working with Buxton Community School and the University of Derby, and have several Duke of Edinburgh and sport course students offering their time to the club on a regular basis.

The club also has a growing junior and senior squad, members of which will be competing in the forthcoming Derbyshire County Championships.
