Buxton Swimming Club recently held its annual Club Championships with a host of members impressing with good times.

For the first time in the club’s history the event was licensed with the ASA, meaning swimmers could gain the all important times to go onto higher level meets.

Amongst the most notable performers was Ben Prince, 13, who broke three club records on the night - one set by Alan Rapley, who went on to compete in and captain the 1996 Olympic swimming team.

Elsewhere, Jamie Beresford-Cook smashed the 200m butterfly record in the open category by a massive 13 seconds.

Other stand-out performances of the night came from Chloe Foster (six gold medals, setting personal best times in all of them), Sophie Byrne (five golds) and Lily Howard (five golds including an eight second personal-best in the 100m butterfly).

Elsewhere, in the boys’ section the Prince brothers took a massive haul of 14 gold medals between them and Alex Davies also stood out as he grabbed six golds on a memorable night.
