Cash boost for charities

GOLFERS have helped raise over £1,232 following a charity day at New Mills Golf Club.

The event last Friday saw golfers compete in the Alan (Mick) Jones Memorial Trophy, in turn raising a total of £1,232 which will be split between two charities: Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield and New Mills and District Volunteer Centre.

Norman Heald, of the organising committee, said: “It was a magnificent effort by all concerned.”

Results: 1st, P Moran & J Jones, 42 points (card play-off); 2nd, J Marshall & K Hyde, 42 points; 3rd, J Swindells & R Blackwell, 40 points.
