Buxton runner impresses at Welsh half marathon

Buxton AC’s Jason Bennett travelled to North Wales at the weekend to compete in the Conwy Half Marathon and was rewarded with a fine result.

He finished 30th from a huge field of 2,500 runners and ran the course in one hour, 22 minutes and 47 seconds.

Elsewhere, Kate Ledin ran the Burgess Park park run in a time of 23 minutes, and was first female over-50, 32nd overall.

Husband Stefan also claimed top spot in his over-50 category, finishing the course in 20.27, 15th overall in the race.

Closer to home at the Lyme Park parkrun, Ben Light came home third in a time of 19.26.

Fellow Club member Pete Bailey ran the course in 24.24, and son Alfie backed him up in 26.43.

On the fells, the “Leg it Round Lathkill” race attracted its usual sizeable field and representing Buxton were Roland Meylan in 1.05.37, Dave Forshaw 1.10.19 and 72 year old Bill Allsop in 1.20.00.

The Club’s AGM will be held at 7pm on Thursday November 27 in the Shrewsbury Room at the Old Hall Hotel.

All Club Members are invited.

The next Pavilion Gardens 5K will be held on Saturday December 6.
