BUXTON Amateur Boxing Club fighters Jordan Bennett and Romans Belousous travelled to Liverpool and entertained against tough opposition from one of the country’s fastest emerging clubs.
Bennett was first up in a terrific battle against a tall and talented opponent. In his sixth contest of his debut season, Bennett gave his opponent a torrid time, pushing forward continually throughout the three rounds.
His Merseyside opponent was given the decision for cleaner work, but there were no complaints from the Buxton team after a terrific performance.
The bout of the evening featured top talent Belousous against Liverpool’s light-welterweight boss. This bout was nip and tuck throughout, Belousous taking the majority of shots on the gloves, and looking dangerous on the front foot in the first round.
Both boxers had it all to fight for in the final three minutes. Belousous looked to get off combinations and loop dangerous hooks over a high guard. His opponent remained strong throughout, however, and was awarded the close points decision.
