Buxton’s second team pulled off a tight victory, overcoming Ramgarhia’s seconds 1-0 last weekend.
In what was a close encounter with the team from Derby. it took the hosts until the fourth quarter to find the net and in the process move up to third in the league standings.
On top for most of the match, Buxton just couldn’t convert their superiority into goals with the Ramgarhia goalkeeper playing well and making several fine saves.
The Bucks missed an early chance when only their second short corner saw an effort rebound back off a post.
The Bucks defence of Hambleton, M Lomas, Clayton and Drennan were in top form, whilst the forwards were continually testing the visiting defenders.
Home goalkeeper Robins was rarely tested, though he made one or two vital saves when called upon.
The inevitable goal came after many short passes in and around the visitors’ area, when J Lomas found J Meaton who hit home from close range to seal the victory.
Squad: D Robins (GK), M Hambleton, M Lomas, J Clayton, A Drennan, S Edmans, P Heathcote, J Meaton, P Danson, J Talbot, J Lomas, J Sewell, S Longden, S Meaton
• Buxton 3rd 10-1 Sale 4th
A strong Buxton third team overwhelmed Sale fourths with the scoreline reflecting the one-sidedness of the encounter.
For the first time this season Buxton controlled the middle with Orritt, Savage and Lowton in dominating form, resulting in the wider players having space and opportunities to run the ball.
James Cross opened the scoring with a textbook sweep and more goals came quickly as the hosts opened up a 5-0 lead at the break.
Despite a spirited fightback by Sale, they continued to be outplayed, with pressure continuing to produce further Buxton goals.
Sale scored a consolation goal late in the second half but the hosts had romped well-clear by then.
Scorers: Lowton 3, Cross 2, Orritt 2, Betts 1 and Talbot 1, Own goal 1.
Squad: M Wilkinson, J Everill, A Matthews, J Chetwood, T Savage, W Orritt, T Lowton, C Kerr, N Marshall, A Talbot, S Wilkinson, J Watson, J Cross and S Betts.
