Six riders represented Buxton Cycling Club at last weekend’s National Hill-Climb Championships.
The annual event, this year held on “the Stang” in North Yorkshire near Barnard Castle, took place in treacherous weather conditions.
With strong, gusty winds and persistent rain, the narrow 2.3-mile climb proved a challenge to the 180-strong field.
The best performance by a Buxton CC rider came from Chris Baines who came home in 28th place after a finish of 8:56.3
As predicted by many, the race was won by the dominant rider this season, Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chimnoy Cycling Team. The Oxford rider came home in 7 minutes, 57.7 seconds.
Other Buxton CC riders: 57th Bhima Bowden, 93rd Stuart Baker, 113th Jonathan Baines, 117th Sam Mansfield, 142nd Simon Baines.
