Buxton AC’s Jason Bennett had a busy bank holiday weekend with a cracking second place finish at the Lyme Park Parkrun on Saturday, before sealing third spot in the Wirksworth Wiggle 10K trail race 24 hours later.

Also in the medals at Wirksworth was Rachel Chatwin, with Neil Wainwright coming home in 13th place.

Rachel was also the fastest over-40 Female at the Mobberley 5.3 mile ‘Round the Runway’ race last week, where Steve Watson had an impressive run to finish 11th at the same event, with fellow Club runner Ben Light gaining 33rd position.

Other Parkrun results from last weekend were Clare Bradshaw (80th at Lyme Park) claiming a personal best for the distance; Steve Claye 25th at Marple; Emma Havenhand 170th at Sheffield and Kevin Mottram 18th at Hanley in a PB time of 21.08.

At the six-mile Tiger’s Todger fell race near Sheffield, Jo Bednall was Buxton’s sole competitor, taking third female, 87th overall, in 45.02.

Also on the fells, Pete Bailey was the first Buxton runner home in the Masson Hill race, held over four miles with 1,115 feet of climbing, in 41st position. Helen Brunt was 77th, Chris Bent 86th and Angela Bent 88th.

At the Wirksworth Incline race, a hilly 4 mile race, Jason Tatton led the Buxton contingent home in 38th position in 33.02, followed by Helen Brunt 75th in 39.55, Chris Bent 77th in 40.29 and Angela Bent 81st in 41.16.

In the Under-11 Junior Race, Joshua Tatton ran strongly to secure an excellent fifth place finish.
