Ben Light sealed victory at the latest Pavilion Gardens 5K, but he was ran close by two of his Buxton AC team-mates.

Ben crossed the line first in a time of 17 minutes and 51 seconds, closely followed by Sol Clark (18.04) and Steve Watson (18.14).

Supervet Steve, returning from injury, was pushing the pace and had took an early lead.

He managed to hang on for two of the three laps, only to be passed by Ben and Sol in the latter stages, with the former grabbing victory.

The first female home was Clare Holdcroft, representing Mow Cop, in a time of 23.04.

The second fastest female was Heather Fryer-Winder (25.12) and third was Angela Bent (25.33), both women representing Buxton AC.

The first Junior athlete home was Alfie Bailey in a time of 21.57.

The next Gardens 5K will be held on Saturday November 8 in aid of ‘Movember’ - the charity whose aims are saving and improving the lives of men affected by cancer.

There will be a cake stall, face painting of moustaches and free wristbands.

All abilities and ages are welcome to take part for this worthwhile cause.
