Buxton Hitmen riders and supporters gathered for the annual presentations and awards evening last week.

Despite the inclement weather, riders came from as far afield as Cumbria and Wales for the event at the Winking Man in Buxton.

Buxton co-chairman Richard Moss presented individual trophies to Tony Atkin, Adam Extance, Ryan Blacklock, Tom Woolley, Paul Bowen and Cameron Hoskins.

The major awards went to veteran Atkin and first season sensation Extance, who received the Ken Moss Memorial Trophy and the leading bonus-point scorer award.

Extance thanked everyone for playing their part in his first speedway season.

Meanwhile, evergreen Atkin scooped the top points scorer and Gold cup awards.

He said: “This season has had its challenges but I cannot remember a more enjoyable team to ride for.

“I didn’t think I would still be riding at my age but I’m raring to go again for next season.”

Team building begins in earnest following the National League AGM on Tuesday December 9.

The 2015 National League season is due to commence next April.
