Ryan Holroyd, who won this year’s Buxton Carnival road race, returned to the town to smash the Pavilion Gardens 5K course record.
Holroyd, of Staffordshire Moorlands AC, claimed the prestigious first place by annihilating the course record by a substantial 58 seconds, finishing in 15 minutes and 12 seconds.
Ryan, who soon returns to university in the United States to continue his athletic scholarship, was pushed in the early stages by second-placed Toby Smith (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC).
Buxton AC’s Rob White posted a third-placed finish.
The fastest female was Buxton’s Rachel Chatwin in a time of 20.11.
Buxton Juniors fielded eight talented youngsters, and leading the team home was Elliot Meylan in a personal best time of 18.38, followed by Will Tighe, also with a PB of 19.34.
If you want to take part, in the Pavilion 5k, simply turn up for the 9am start on every second Saturday of each month on Broad Walk, Buxton.
