BUXTON manager Martin McIntosh was full of praise for his players after their goalless draw at Blue Square Premier League leaders Grimsby Town earnt the Bucks a high-profile FA Trophy replay at the Silverlands.
McIntosh went into the game full of confidence, and he wasn’t let down by his players as the Bucks pushed the Mariners all the way at Blundell Park on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to the Advertiser after the match, McIntosh said: “I thought we were well organised and worked hard and I thought we caused them some problems. They had a lot of possession but couldn’t break us down.
“I think in all honesty they had the best of the possession but we had two or three half chances throughout the game. Overall through the 90 minutes, it was fairly even.
“We came with a positive attitude and played 4-4-2. I watched three DVDs of them for ideas beforehand so I knew how they played.
“I think our keeper had a very good game but all the players put in a shift and that was the main requirement for me.”
The replay is scheduled to take place at the Silverlands on Wednesday night, kick-off 7.45pm. So what is McIntosh’s game plan now?
“We’ll take a look, see who has got knocks and then take it from there,” he said. “It will be a different game at our place.”
