Gregory hits 69 with the bat but Dove Holes fall short of Buxworth's total

Dove Holes fell short in the chase against Buxworth in Division One of the Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League.

Buxworth elected to bat at Dove Holes and saw C Ripley hit 53 and I Fairley 43 in a total of 185-9, C Flynt taking 5-30.

Jack Gregory then made 69 but Joe Hall took 5-67 and Dan Gilbride 3-72 as Dove finished short on 172-9.

Elsewhere in the division, Dinting hosted Broadbottom and having elected to bat posted 242-7, Greg Harwick with 39 and A Bleakley 97 while R Blyth took 3-55.

In reply Chris Cheetham-Roberts scored 63, J Dodd 45 not out and Phil Rowston 75 not out but 3-43 from Jon Coleman and 3-49 from Danny Brightmore rextricted Broadbottom to 224-6.

Hawk Green scored a massive 311-3 batting first at home to Compstall who had won the toss, Sam Messih with 102 and Pete Richards 171.

Compstall were then bowled out for 186, B Heginbotham hitting 54 as M Stringer took 5-54.

Mottram hosted Old Glossop and chose to bat closing 185-9, Ryan Fitton with 67 as P Littlewood took 3-25 and D Hall 3-63.

Old Glossop were then bowled out for 136, Matt Woodcock top scoring with 31 while Mike Scott took 4-29.

New Mills travelled to Whaley Bridge and were bowled out for 156 as M Birchenall hit 31 and S Mills 34, H Holden taking 3-34.

Sam Slack then hit 48 and L Jones 60 not out as Whaley Bridge raced to 160-2.

Division 2

Birch Vale won the toss at Hazel Grove and elected to bat but were soon 109 all out, Dom Nunn taking 6-56 and Mark Clayton 3-11. Hazel Grove then eased to 111-4 thanks to 48 from Nick Hayward.

Chapel batted first at Hollingworth and scored an impressive 237-6, J Hawtin with 122. Ryan McNee then scored a century of his own (126) but it wasn’t to be enough as Keith Hallam took 5-48 and John Theyer 3-57 to bowl Hollingworth out for 223.

Newton hosted Offerton and having been asked to bat closed 254 all out, Andy Grant with 97 and S Nugent 37 while S Pickles took 3-18. Offerton were then all out for just 81, Tom Thelwell scoring 31 as Andy Grant capped a fine all round display with 3-7 and T Pottage took 3-6.

Stalybridge recorded their first victory in Division 2 as they batted first at home to Charlesworth and scored 175-7, A Harwick with 56 as Jonny Wardle took 4-64 and Phil Elliott 3-67. Charlesworth were struggling but Gaz Evans (47) and Tilak Bhojani (34) took them close, the visitors eventually finishing on 168-9 as J Brady took 4-43 and M Mallett 3-43.

Division 3

Dinting chose to bat at Broadbottom and made 178 all out, J Massey with 93 as M Butcher took 4-47 and L Clarkson 3-32. N Courtney then it 56 and M Butcher 30 as Broadbottom reached their target for the loss of 5 wickets.

Charlesworth chose to bat as they hosted Hawk Green but had no answer to the bowling of Brad Holme (5-18) or George Ridings (4-27) as they were all out for just 62. Hawk Green then raced to 66-1, Craig Young finishing 41 not out.

Hayfield batted first at New Mills and were 176-8, K Sharpe with 59 and Dave Aldridge 51 while Tom Boardman took 3-48. Ben Boardman then hit an unbeaten 60 with M Palmer-Williams making 102 as New Mills made 177-4, M Procter taking 4-20.

Old Glossop were bowled out for 120 batting first at home to Newton, D Acomb hitting 61 as M Ridgeway took 4-22. J Ankers then hit 33 and Mark Barnard 31 as Newton eased to 122-3.

Tintwistle batted first at home to Hadfield and scored 195-8, S Morris with 62 and SP Barrow 31 while C Eyre took 3-46 and G Snowball 3-49. Snowball (71) and Eyre (32) were also in the runs but Hadfield were ultimately just short on 174-9, A Brown taking 3-43.

Woodley were 221 all out batting first at home to Dove Holes, S Richards hitting 78, M Sands 48 and P Pannett 32 as D Waterhouse took 4-49 and P Johnson 4-22. T Drabble then and T Green then both made 50, with P Johnson adding 35 but it wasn’t enough as Dove Holes were all out for 189.
