Ryan, who is in charge this week with McIntosh on holiday, told the Advertiser: “As far as the local lads go, we’re working closely with them.

“The gaffer has close contact with the Development Squad and will be looking at anyone who stands out.

“We’ve got a new Buxton lad we’re looking to take at the moment as well.

“Like I said if anyone stands out we’ll be more than happy to push them up to mix with the first team.”

He said: “Both myself and Craig (Mills, assistant) are happy with the group of players we have signed and with the start we have made against strong opposition.

“We will continue to work hard in the weeks ahead to ensure we sharpen up our finishing and develop more game management awareness as we progress into the season.

“The shape and balance of the team is improving week on week and we will add a couple more friendlies to ensure we are ready when the season starts on Friday 19th August at Silverland’s.”

Ryan will take the opportunity to look at a number of trialists.

He said: “It’s a first look at a couple of players, but at the end of the day the gaffer will have the final decision to make on them.

“We’ll look at players tonight to see if they fit in with us, we know what we need and which positions we feel we would like to strengthen.”

The assistant manager is pleased with the five new summer signings and the way they’ve settled in at the Silverlands.

“I think all the new boys have done well, “ he said.

“And in terms of the squad, we’ve had three games now and all the lads have had the required minutes, alongside training, we’re pleased with things at the minute.”
