Once again, the weather was the only winner as it decimated the non-league programme again last weekend.
The first casualty was New Mills Reserves’ Derbyshire Divisional Cup North Quarter Final against Cromford, which was postponed early on Friday.
The two teams will try again this Saturday (kick-off 1.15pm).
New Mills’ first team were due to travel to Curzon Ashton last Saturday and with the two sides being in fairly close proximity, a decision on whether to stage the game was delayed until Saturday morning.
The heavy overnight snowfall made the outcome fairly academic though and news of the inevitable postponement filtered through around 9.30am.
In fact, such was the severity of the weather across the whole of the region, just one solitary fixture was played across the three Northern Premier League Divisions with the game at Lancaster City being the sole survivor.
The Evo-Stik League released dates for the vast majority of the remaining first-team fixtures last week and with less than half of their Division One North fixtures fulfilled as February arrives, it promises to be a very busy time for everybody connected with New Mills AFC.
Starting with Saturday’s home game against Bamber Bridge (kick-off 3pm), Roy Soule’s side have no less than 24 games to fit in before the conclusion of the league season on the last weekend of April.
On Tuesday February 5, the Millers head to Ossett Albion (kick-off 7.45pm).
