High Peak Athletics Club travelled to Moorways Stadium in Derby for the last of the Derby Mini League Cross Country Races recently.

A brilliant morning of races culminated in the presentation of medals for both individual performance and team placings.

On the day the results were:

Under 11 Girls

Megan Harris-Wood 3rd

Jamie-Lee Taylor 4th

Cheyenne Wright 9th

Jodie Babington 14th

Freya Hatcher 16th

Under 11 Boys

Shane Tilson 2nd

Euan Freeman 3rd

Eddie Fenton 4th

Matthew Frewer 7th

Gregor McGill 8th

Alex Opelt 11th

Samuel McGill 16th

Under 13 Girls

Sosseh Badjie 3rd

Sasha Scragg 12th

Olivia Plant 16th

Under 13 Boys

Ted Johnson 7th

Isaac Quinn 8th

At the presentation all the hard work paid off with some well earned awards for a number of club members.

The club came fourth in the overall team event.

For a relatively newly-formed club, this can be considered a massive achievement particularly considering as the club had only been able to regularly field two out of six teams.

Under 11 Girls

Megan Harris-Wood has run her heart out this year and scooped silver, as well as joint-silver with the under-11 girls team.

Under 11 Boys

A fantastic gold for Euan Freeman and bronze for Eddie Fenton to go with a gold for the team, which was thoroughly deserved.

Under 13 Girls

Sosseh Badjie scooped bronze and also qualified to run for Derbyshire at under-13 girls level.
