Buxton FC picked up their second successive win with a 2-1 victory over Ashton United on Saturday.

The Bucks went ahead within four minutes thanks to a brilliantly struck shot by Bradley Barraclough. And in the second period Kieran Lugsden added a second goal on 73 minutes to double Buxton’s lead.

But just minutes later, Bucks keeper Scott Hartley brought down Alex Frost in the area to concede a penalty which Aaron Burns converted.

Tonight (Monday) Buxton travel to Bradford Park Avenue for an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture which kicks-off at 7.45pm.

In the Evo-Stik First Division South, goals from James Moss and Ben Deegan (2) gave New Mills AFC a 3-0 win over Goole at Church Lane, their second three-goal victory on the trot as they continue their late push for the play-offs.

The Millers travel to former North West Counties League rivals Newcastle Town on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

Glossop North End, meanwhile, held out for a hard-fought 1-0 win at Padiham, boosting their North West Counties League Premier Division title credentials.

Adam Oakes scored from the penalty spot for ten-man Glossop, who had earlier seen leading goalscorer Sam Hind dismissed for an off-the-ball incident.

North End will now be hoping to carry on their fighting spirit when they host Stone Dominoes at Surrey Street on Wednesday evening (7.45pm kick-off).
