Town toast ten in a row at Bar

Hope Valley League Premier Division: Hunters Bar 0, Buxton Town 3

BUXTON Town made it ten wins in a row as they overcame a stubborn Hunters Bar.

The best player on the pitch was Hunters Bar midfielder Will Lee who shone in a free role.

Town took the lead in the third minute when the impressive George Burgess picked the ball up 25 yards from goal and thundered a shot into the roof of the net.

Bar recovered well, limiting Town to mainly pot shots. They went close to equalising when a deep free-kick found the head of Adam Pringle, but his glanced header was easily gathered by Chris Gartside.

Town doubled their lead when Danny Ball picked out the run of Colin Moss with a perfectly weighted pass and Moss beat the offside trap to lob Karl Taylor.

Adam Davies and Jace Broome stood out for Town, with Broome particularly at the heart of Town’s play. James Mallaband went close to netting when he found a yard of space in the Hunters Bar area but fired narrowly wide.

A third Town goal before half-time was probably a bit unfair on the home side as Moss sent in a corner with pace and Ball made a superb near-post run to power his header into the net as he opened his account for the season.

Town were then denied what looked a certain penalty as Joe Burgess was upended in the box.

Town strolled through the second half, having a goal disallowed when Mark Harris had stepped into an offside position. Greaves also picked out George Burgess with an excellent pass but Taylor denied the midfielder.

James Wilding and Matt Clark both fired shots over the bar before Gartside made an outstanding save at the other end when Ben Vaughan’s deep free-kick found the unmarked Lee at the far post.

The excellent Bar youngster Ryan Sugden then forced Gartside into another good save, diving to his right.

Buxton: Gartside, Mirams, Ball (Wilding), Mallaband, Davies, Greaves, G Burgess (Owen), Broome, Harris, J Burgess (Clark), Moss. Subs not used: Haworth, Pearson. Man of the Match: Jace Broome.
