Town move up to second

Premier Division

Buxton Town 6

Tintwistle Villa 0

TOWN moved up to second as they swept aside Tintwistle.

The hosts made a blistering start and took the lead in the sixth minute when Jack Gregory exchanged passes with Chris Adams before Gregory picked out the run of Matt Clark who produced an excellent finish.

The lead was doubled when Adams picked out Clark on the edge of the area and he let fly into the bottom corner.

Richard Mirams then fed Zak Heywood, who bent a fantastic effort from wide on the right into the top corner to make it 3-0. Tintwistle’s only real chance came early in the second half when Thomas Statham hit a free-kick which forced Peter Moss to make a good save.

Mark Harris then created the goal of the game as he delivered a perfect ball for Heywood who smashed a left-foot volley first time into the net.

Clark sent Heywood clear on goal and the youngster showed great composure to complete his hat-trick.

Mirams and Heywood then linked well and Mirams picked out Clark at the near post who also completed his hat-trick. Town were denied what appeared a clear-cut penalty when Steven Young was taken down but the referee waved away the claims.

Buxton: Moss, Mirams, Hunter, Ball, Harris (Young), Heywood, Burgess (Haworth), Gregory, Halpin, Adams (Green), Clark. Buxton Building Supplies’ mom: Matt Clark.
