Harpur Hill 0
Buxton Town 2
HARPUR took the game to the visitors and twice hit the bar in the opening ten minutes through Martin Jackson and Ryan Doxey, after superb deliveries by former Town star Mikey Heathcote.
At the other end, Matt Clark forced Stuart Lumbert into a good save, but when the ball rebounded to Zak Heywood he couldn’t direct his header.
Town took the lead in the 13th minute as Heywood played the ball into Jack Grindey who turned and produced an outstanding finish.
Craig Jones went close with a speculative long-range shot, before Anthony Hunter and Tim Halpin both saw headers narrowly wide.
Harpur dominated the second half, but Hunter and Danny Ball were colossal at the back for Buxton and keeper Peter Moss produced a host of superb saves, denying Ryan Doxey after being fed by brother Shaun and tipping a Heathcote shot over the bar.
George Burgess blocked a Fraser Bloor shot on the line. Mark Harris screwed a rare Town chance wide of the post and Clark saw an attempted overhead kick drift inches wide, but back came Harpur and Scott Murcott saw his header cleared off the line.
Town killed off the game when Chris Adams picked out Grindey with a good pass, who in turn fed Clark and his acrobatic kick landed in the bottom corner. Adams then beat the offside trap but his lob went wide of the post.
