The starting line-ups have been announced for the eagerly-anticipated Manchester United Legends game at the Silverlands in Buxton on Father’s Day.

A team of United legends including Arthur Albiston, David May, Sammy McIlroy and Ben Thornley will take on a Buxton FC XI led by current Bucks manager Martin McIntosh on Sunday June 16 (kick-off 2pm).

Other local legends turning out for the Buxton team will include all-time record goalscorer Mark Reed, former goalkeeper Scott Hartley and record appearance holder David Bainbridge.

Although subject to alteration, the teams are expected to line-up as follows -

Buxton XI: Scott Hartley, Grant Black, David Bainbridge, Martin McIntosh (captain), Mark Heywood, Sean Doxey, Paul Egerton, Tim Willis, Mark Reed, Dave Bradbury, Scott Maxfield. Substitutes: Charlie Johnson, Danny Hopkins, Zak Heywood, Mark Balfe, John Stanway, Chris Martin.

Manchester United Legends: Frazer Digby, Russel Beardsmore, Arthur Albiston (captain), Mike Duxbury, David May, Clayton Blackmoor, Peter Davenport, Sammy McIlroy, Andy Ritchie, Deiniol Graham, Ben Thornley. Substitutes: Ikky, Andy Lomax, four TBA.

Turnstiles will open at midday, with pre-match entertainment provided in the form of junior football organised by Chris Hill Community Sports. The Legends match kicks-off at 2pm.

Tickets, priced £12.50 or £35 for a family ticket (two adults, two children), are available from the Buxton branch of M Markovitz, Muzik and More, New Bodies Gym or from the club’s online shop.
