Glossop romped to a 5-0 win on Tuesday night, as they overcame Bootle with consummate ease.
Lee Blackshaw set the ball rolling in the 11th minute when his free-kick on the edge of the box found its way into the net.
Five minutes later a second was added by Jason Carey, who finished with aplomb when one-on-one with the Bootle stopper.
Glossop continued to press but it took them another 50 minutes to grab the third goal.
A Greg Hall goal kick was allowed to bounce by the Bootle defence and Carey nipped in behind them and lobbed the stranded ‘keeper from 30 yards.
The fourth arrived on 72 minutes when Blackshaw’s angled free-kick picked out Dave Young, who headed home.
Sam Grimshaw then put the icing on the cake with a 90th-minute precision header from yet another pin-point Blackshaw cross.
Glossop are now six points behind leaders Runcorn Linnets and crucially have three games in hand.
Saturday sees the FA Vase take centre stage, with North End welcoming Ryhope CW to Surrey Street in the second round proper.
