NEW MILLS AFC were again frustrated by the weather after last weekend’s Evo-Stik First Division South game against Newcastle Town fell victim to the weather.
There was cautious optimism that The Lyme Valley Stadium pitch could beat Friday evening’s big freeze but the thaw unfortunately didn’t happen quickly enough and a local referee postponed the fixture around 11.30am.
The freezing weather wiped out all but one First Division South fixture, and that was played on the all-weather 3G pitch at Coles Lane, the home of Romulus FC.
This Saturday, New Mills are scheduled to face second-bottom Quorn at Church Lane (kick-off 3pm).
l New Mills travel to Gresley in the quarter-finals of the Derbyshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.45pm).
The match, postponed from earlier this week due to a frozen pitch, will be played to a conclusion.
