FOUR High Peak junior football teams are to do battle in a bid to get their name onto the inaugural Junior High Peak Cup.
The competition involves under-12s teams from Chapel Town, Whaley Bridge, New Mills and Hayfield junior football clubs.
Chapel will take on New Mills and Whaley Bridge face Hayfield in this Saturday’s semi-finals, with the winners meeting at the Silverlands in Buxton on May 12 (kick-off 3pm).
Organiser James Howe said: “There is nothing of its kind in the High Peak area for teams of this age, and if it is successful I hope to carry it on until the lads are able to compete in the adult version.”
Gates at the Silverlands on May 12 open at 1.45pm. The bar will be open for refreshments.
The final will be played to a conclusion on the day, with extra time and penalties if required.
At half-time, the two losing semi-finalists will go head to head in a penalty shootout to determine who finishes third.
