VODKAT Premier Division side Glossop North End has appointed Paul Colgan as their new first team manager.
The ex-Rossendale United manager, who has also been in charge of the reserve teams at Hyde United and Curzon Ashton, replaces Steve Young, who left the Surrey Street club at the beginning of April.
Colgan said: “I’m really looking forward to working closely with everybody at the club to maintain and hopefully build on the solid foundation that’s been established by the directors, previous management team and the squad.
“Obviously it’s inevitable that players will move on, I will be looking to retain as many of the existing squad as possible, while I’ll also take the opportunity to freshen up the club with a few new players.
“The club has a terrific ground with a good pitch, excellent and improving off-field facilities, a thriving reserve and youth system and tremendous support - everything that’s required to provide a platform for good footballers to develop further, enjoy their football and take this club to the next level.”
Colgan, whose playing career was brought to a premature end at the age of 23 due to a leg injury, has been coaching for 18 years. He has brought in Paul Williams as Assistant Manager and Darren Green as coach.
“Paul, Darren and I will bring a wealth of experience and we are confident that we will deliver quality football for Glossop supporters, but we also want our squad to play with a smile on their face,” he added.
“We’ve heard that the club’s fans not only set out to enjoy their football, but help the team to enjoy theirs too, and I am looking forward to joining with them to ensure that this remains a club to be proud of, and a winning one at that.”
