Witton, FC Halifax and Leek Town take January Fair Play awards
THE UniBond "Fair Play" awards for January have gone to Witton Albion, FC Halifax Town and Leek Town respectively.
It is the second month in succession that Albion have won the top tier prize and the third occasion this term.
The last two have come in the first two full months of manager Gary Finley's tenure and they now lie in sixth place in the season to date table.
Leigh Genesis may not be going to win any titles or cups this season but they have gone to the top of the season to date table and have yet to have a player dismissed, one of only two Premier Division clubs who can boast that record with Hednesford Town being the other.
FC Halifax Town were taking the First Division North accolade for the first time although manager Jim Vince was a regular recipient of the prize when he was at Witton Albion during the past two campaigns.
The former Football League club are now third in the race for the 1,000 first prize for the season overall in what is the closest contest yet seen with just 0.02 of a point between the top three.
The First Division South monthly prize saw a tie between Leek Town and Grantham Town with Leek taking it on less red cards.
Unusually, Grantham did not have a single player booked but did have the one dismissal.
Quorn, despite averaging a caution a game, still have a healthy lead at the top from Willenhall Town
