UniBond Premier Division Leigh Genesis 0 Buxton 7 BUXTON notched up their second win of the Easter weekend in emphatic style on Monday with a comprehensive defeat over Leigh Genesis.

The Bucks started the match, held at Warrington Town's ground, in buoyant mood after their Good Friday victory over Matlock Town and their confidence showed throughout.

Mark Reed could have put Buxton ahead inside four minutes but his early shot was cleared off the line by the home side. James Turley then had another good chance for the visitors but his shot was agonisingly wide on 17 minutes.

Indeed, it wasn't until the 23rd minute when Buxton took the lead, a fantastic free kick by Gav Knight being curled beautifully to sail straight into the top corner of the net.

Scott Hartley pulled off a good save from an effort by Leigh's Neil Zarac at close range on 26 minutes before Michael Towey responded by rattling the post with a really good long range effort on 30 minutes.

Another shot by Towey was deflected out for a corner a few minutes later, a move which led to Buxton's second goal when the inswinging ball was tapped in by Terry Bowker on 36 minutes.

The in-form Reed grabbed Buxton's third goal of the afternoon, his fifth goal in three games, with a fantastic strike that lobbed Leigh's young keeper Dean Porter on 41 minutes.

It took Buxton just three minutes after the restart to add to their lead. Porter made a mess of a shot by James Turley and could only watch in horror as the ball rolled past him into the net.

Tommy Agus went close to getting his name on the score sheet on 54 minutes with a great header that was saved by Porter before Buxton netted their fifth goal of the game a minute later.

A Turley corner into the box was met by Gregg Anderson who headed home his first goal of the season as the afternoon went from bad to worse for Leigh.

Buxton's sixth goal came from Mark Reed on 62 minutes and was an almost carbon copy of his earlier goal as he again lobbed keeper Porter.

Despite Leigh being well and truly beaten by now, the visitors were still searching for more goals and both Gav Knight and Steve Ridley had chances to extend the lead before the seventh and final goal was scored in the 73rd minute.

This time it was Michael Towey who deservedly got his name on the team sheet when he fired home after a Buxton corner.

Mark Reed was unlucky not to get his second hat trick of the weekend with a couple of good opportunities in the dying minutes of the game, the result of which boosted Buxton's goal difference, and their bid to stay in the Unibond Premier League, no end.

Buxton: Hartley, Bowker, Ridley, Agus, Anderson, Stevens (Moseley 69), Maxfield (Walker 51), Towey, Reed, Knight (Reet 72), Turley.

Attendance: 257.
