Local pride on the line in new friendly tournament

LOCAL teams Buxton, Glossop North End, New Mills and Chapel Town are to fight it out in a pre-season tournament next month.

On Saturday July 25, New Mills will welcome Chapel Town to Church Lane in the first semi-final at 1pm, while Buxton travel to Surrey Street to face beaten FA Vase finalists Glossop at 4pm the same day.

Then on Sunday there's a feast of football at the Silverlands, with a third-place play-off between Saturday's defeated sides at 1pm, followed by the final at 4pm.

Staggered kick-off times mean ground-hoppers can watch all four games.

Fans going to the New Mills v Chapel Town game will get half price entry into the Glossop v Buxton match.

Admission to the Finals day is 5, and there will be a penalty shoot-out competition between the four clubs' junior sides before the High Peak Cup Final.

The games will be played in the format of friendly matches. All tied games will be decided by penalty kicks.
